FIRST SITTING OF THE LESOTHO COORDINATING COMMITTEE ON TRADE (LCCT)

 

The Lesotho Coordinating Committee on Trade (LCCT) (as narrated in this write-up) will have its first sitting on 28 September 2017 as indicated by the Honourable Minister of Trade and Industry in his remarks on Friday, 15th September 2017 during the launch of this committee.

 

The main objective of this meeting is to strategize and map the way forward for the LCCT in order to facilitate for establishment and operation of sub-committees that report to this committee. It will be recalled that the LCCT will among others, serve as an advisory body to the Government on trade and trade related policies, and function as a key facilitator for negotiations as well as implementation of trade agreements.

 

The LCCT comprises of four sub-committees namely;

·         Technical Committee on Trade Facilitation

·         Technical Committee on Standards, Product and Market diversification

·         Technical Committee on Market Access ( Goods and Services)

·         Technical Committee on Monitoring, Evaluation and Resourcing

 

These committees have representation from Government agencies, parastatals, private sector, academia and civil society.
